CommunityLend Meeting
JP.Zopa.com, Regulators v. IOU Central, and Communitylend
Zopa skips over the rest of the Americas and stops in Japan?
Just a tid-bit of news for those that haven't been keeping track, Zopa is continuing their ambitious expansion plans by moving into Japan . Which I found a bit surprising, since, well, when I think of Japan, I think of everything being completely different, and I'd imagine that banking would be no different.
IOU Central: I'd Still Trust Them
Bank Account Transfers Still Working Properly
I just wanted to post that when they announced their limited functionality status, I initiated a transfer of funds to my bank account, and today, the funds arrived in my bank account. So they're not artificially delaying anything.
So they're not in any way doing anything that I would consider unethical at this point. They are certainly sticking to what they said they would do: No new loans/bids but keeping the rest of the website operating normally.
Funny Listing on RentACoder.com: IOU Central Website Clone:
Looks like someone is willing to pay up to US$500 to build a clone of IOUCentral.ca's website with "same everything but in a different color".
Looks like the user has no prior experience on the web site, is based in Taiwan and registered on the site on Feb 12th, 2008.
IOU Central: Press Releases and Decisions from the QC Regulators
Not of any news to anyone on this site, but IOU is under "limited functionality" as they like to say. The Toronto Star has some coverage in their article "Loan Auction Site Closes 'Temporarily'" Thanks to user "North4st" for the Link.
IOU Central Users: Please Post Here with Your Experiences
I honestly did have funds in my account waiting to make a bid, but with school stuff, I didn't have time to investigate my opportunities. So, if any users here have borrowed or loaned out funds before the "Limited Functionality" thing happened, please use this entry to post with your experiences of the process. Things like payments, how your borrowers are doing etc. would be very much appreciated until we get a bulletin board set up here.
IOU Central: Limited Functionality: Why and What it Means
Yes, IOU Central is now currently operating under what they call "Limited Functionality". If you do have funds in your IOU Central "account", I don't see any reason to not transfer it back into your regular bank account.
Advice for those new to P2P Lending, IOU Central, Communitylend and/or Peermint
If you're new to this whole new industry and are interested in funding a p2p loan or p2p borrowing, it would probably be best to go to the main Microlending page and read the articles from the bottom up starting with "
IOU Central: Bank Confirmed. Now: Xfer Funds and Get Credit Score
Well, after signing up on Friday February 15th, I received both the deposit and withdrawal to confirm my back account today (the 20th). As I've said before, they always make a deposit first, and then a withdrawal, and the withdrawal is always smaller, so you don't end up in an overdraft/NSF situation.
IOU Central: Current Borrowers Looking For Funding: An Analysis
Well, I'm still waiting for my bank account to be confirmed at IOU Central (it has only really been 1 business day, perhaps not even 1 because of the Family Day thing), so here's just a bit of a summary of the current loans looking for funding.
As of 6PM on February 18, 2008 there are:
IOUCentral and Communitylend Borrowers: Make Your Listings PERFECT!
Well, now that IOUCentral has launched and Communitylend should be just around the corner in the Canadian Microlending World, I wanted to make a post about what kind of information future borrowers should make in their personal loan requests.

The Toronto Star today has an article about the actual live launch of a Canadian P2P Lending Service: IOU Central.

Globe & Mail Article with Prosper Case Examples, Stats & CommunityLend Info
Well, looks like just after I left for my little vacation, a major news article came out in the Globe & Mail (one of my most respected Canadian newspapers) entitled:
